The Baked Potato Shop

56 Cockburn Street, Edinburgh
tel: 01312257572
This little shop lived on top of Cockburn street. When I said little because this place is so small, it only have one table in the shop. Basically be ready to eat your baked potato on the street or in your hotel. It is so worth it even if you have to eat it on the street. It has range of hot and cold fillings, vegan and vegetarian fillings for your potatoes. I had 2 fillings medium potato and only cost me £4.50 and I can't even finish it. It is huge. Over all it has good taste and great value.

Chez Leon

Rue des Bouchers 18, Brussels
tel: 025111415
If you are looking for some mussels, this is the place to be. Think of it as mussels from Brussels. There was a special for 500gr of mussels, fries and a small glass of beer for only 12.50 euro. Of course there are other choices you can choose from their menu. Their mussels with escargot sauce are really good. Pasta with mussels was not bad, but as usual cream sauce in europe is a little blan, need extra salt.

Ippei-An Ramen & Bar (麵屋一平安)

Even though this is a chain Japanese noodle place, their ramen and soup base is at the top quality. I recommend the Higomonzu Ramen. This is the ever popular pork bone based soup stock which is full of flavor and served generally with well stewed pork and liquid-centered coddled eggs. Also try their Nagasaki - a very rich and flavorful stock, but with hardly a trace of grease. It has a well balanced of toppings includes pork slivers, white-neck clams, squids, Japanese fish cake and a farmer's field of cabbage, chives and mushrooms. Made this dish hearty but healthy supper.

A seriously old-school eatery from the 50's and waiters who look just as antiquated. The food is not the most refined but it has a rustic solidity to it that nonetheless makes you feel that this is how life should be - simple, without pretensions. This restaurant is one of the remaining places in Hong Kong where yumcha/Dimsum is conducted in the same way as in the 60's. Be patient with the service cause there is not much. Make sure to find a sit near the kitchen when having Dimsum cause once it comes out, it is gone.

Eight famous dishes from Lin Heung are listed above this picture.

Chong Fat Restaurant (創發潮州飯店)

60-62 South Wall Rd. (Kowloon City)
九龍城城南道60-62號
tel: 2383 3114
This restaurant has the most authentic "Chiu Chow" dishes in Hong Kong. Can be a little pricey. If you do not speak Chinese, no worried cause once you walk in, you will see all the cooked food in front of you. But of course there are other kitchen prepared dishes that can be ordered through the menu. Be careful when ordering menu dishes cause it can be very expensive. Even though their entrees are delicious, make sure you save room for their desserts. It is just as good.

Fa Yuen Street Market Food Court

3/F, Fa Yuen Street Municipal Services Bldg,
123A Fa Yuen Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon
There are lots to choose from when you enter this bldg. If you are there in the morning, check out Mui Kee Congee or Shiu Fai Cafe. Mui Kee congee is well known among the Hong Kong residences and tourists. Must try their Meat Ball & Century Egg Congee (肉丸皮蛋粥) and Fish Belly Congee (魚腩粥). As for Shiu Fai Cafe, it is known for it western breakfast Hong Kong style. Order their French Toast with condense milk, Corn Beef & Scramble Eggs Sandwich and a cup of Mix Coffee & Milk Tea. For lunch and dinner definitely check out Yat Sing hawker. It is right behind Mui Kee Congee to the right. Their fresh steamed fish with preserved olive is a must try but watch for the tiny fish bones. Also try their any of the appetizer for beer drinkers. Sorry there are no English menu but you can just walk toward the raw foods table, choose what you want to eat and let them know how you want it cooked.

To get there - take MTR get off Mong Kok station exit B3, head toward Mong Kok Rd and the Bldg is on the right. Take elevator up to the 3rd level.

This restaurant is famous for their Dungeness Crab Steamed in Sticky Rice. It is located a few doors down from the overrated Joe's Shanghai's and directly across from Hong Kong Supermarket. Of course there are other dishes that are good too. Try Peking Pork Chop and 3 ways to cook a fish - steamed, soup & stir fry with veggies. I haven't had one bad dish in this restaurant. The pricing are on the expensive side. Be ready to wait for about half to one hours during dinner time. Either come early or later.

Village Curry House (Glasgow)

129 Nelson Street
Glasgow G5 8DZ, United Kingdom
Tel: 0141 429 6727
This is one of the best and most authentic Indian foods I have tasted in Glasgow. The problems with this place is it looks like a dump inside and try not to go to the toilet, no hot water, no soap, no paper towels and a broken hand dryer plus the place could do with a deep clean too.
